The Pink Bible

She was crying when she came into my office. In her hands were a small packet of tissue and a pink Bible. After a brief greeting and prayer, this wholesome young woman began to share her issue of concern.

Though she was successful in her career, she was unable to find a mate to share the road of life. She recounted several stories of dating horrors and love scorned. These relationship failures had left her feeling miserable and a little angry with God. Trying to help, her mother had given her a small pink Bible with scriptures of hope and encouragement sweetly underlined.

At my suggestion, she described the ideal husband she was hoping to find. But the more she dreamed out loud, the less realistic she became. If that person even existed, there would be a long line of females from around the world vying for his attention!

We considered numerous critical questions including her personal relationship with Christ, the purpose of marriage, and the timing of God. She became uncomfortable when we discussed spiritual matters because some of the men that she had dated claimed to be Christians, but were much too forward for her principles.

After sharing appropriate scriptures about personal commitment to God, and important principles of love and marriage, we went to prayer. First, she prayed the most beautiful prayer for wisdom and guidance. Then, I offered prayer in her behalf.

When we finished praying, I told her that I knew the exact man that she should marry. I knew his favorite food, his favorite clothes, who his friends were, where he liked to hang out, what he was looking for in a spouse, what he was thinking, and what he was doing as we spoke.

She was astounded and wanted to know where she could find him. I pointed to her pink Bible and said that he is revealed in there.

  • In John 6:35, you will find his favorite food.

  • In Ephesians 6:11, you will see the clothes he likes to wear.

  • Proverbs 13:20 and 1 Corinthians 15:33 disclose the kind of friends he gathers around him.

  • Hebrews 10:25 explains where he likes to go whenever possible.

  • Proverbs 31:10-31 describes what he is hoping to find in his future wife.

  • Philippians 4:8 uncovers his thought life.

  • And 1 Thessalonians 5:11-24 reveals what “Mr. Right” is doing at this very moment.

It was a wise mother that gave the pink Bible to her daughter. In its’ pages, she will find Divine revelation of her perfect spouse. Never forget, looking for the right people in the wrong places will always lead to disappointment.

But looking in the right place for “Mr. or Mrs. Right,” will bring a lifetime of blessings.
