Pray for Confusion?

What a mess! We were watching the evening news and could not believe what we saw. Somewhere between the well-placed antacid commercial and the advertisement for headache pills, it became apparent that our world has gone stark raving mad. Please pass me some antacid and headache pills, fast!

Anyone who has a basic knowledge of the Ten Commandments, the Gospel message of Jesus, and the teachings of the Apostle Paul, is well aware that humans have lost their way. Bad has become good, and good has become bad. Where society once had a general knowledge of Biblical absolutes, too many have tumbled down the slippery slope of compromise, hedonism, and absolute blasphemy. A mess, indeed.

But this is no accident. There is a wicked mastermind that is using devilish strategies to destroy the Church and the teachings of Jesus. And this instigator of chaos and confusion has raised up an army of influential warriors who are systematically tearing down our society and culture. Some of Satan’s cohorts are in the government, the news media, the entertainment industry, and even in the church.

They never stop. Day and night these evil ones lie in wait for the next opportunity to steal, kill, and destroy the message of Christ. To them, nothing is sacred. They throw away life, stomp on fidelity in marriage, and celebrate debauchery. They have no remorse, no barriers, and no loyalty to anything noble, righteous, or virtuous. By their own choice, they are the enemies of Christ.

In my recent devotions, I was led to four amazing stories in Scripture that overwhelmed my spirit. In each of these occasions, the children of God were being chased by a vicious enemy. That enemy did all they could to destroy the righteous. In each instance, God used the same weapon to stop the attack - confusion.

1. Joshua 10:10 NIV-The LORD threw them into confusion before Israel, so Joshua and the Israelites defeated them completely at Gibeon.

2. Deuteronomy 7:23 NIV - But the LORD your God will deliver them over to you, throwing them into great confusion until they are destroyed.

3. 1 Samuel 7:10 NLT - Just as Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering, the Philistines arrived to attack Israel. But the LORD spoke with a mighty voice of thunder from heaven that day, and the Philistines were thrown into such confusion that the Israelites defeated them.

4. 2 Chronicles 20:23 NIV - The Ammonites and Moabites rose up against the men from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate them. After they finished slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

In Exodus 23:27 NIV, God promised the Child of God, “I will send my terror ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation you encounter. I will make all your enemies turn their backs and run.”

So, will you join me in praying that the Lord will send CONFUSION to the enemy camp? May the Lord diffuse their attacks, and bring justice and reverence back to our nation, under God.
